Baby Bath Apron Towel

Baby Bath Apron Towels are the perfect shower gifts for new moms or moms-to-be. Functional and fun and both mom/dad and baby will love them!

For newborns, you have a safe cradle of towel to grip the slippery baby and lay them right onto the change table. All while keeping your clothes dry!

Baby Bath Apron Towels are one of the few items you can buy for a new mom that will grow with the child and can be used up to 2 or 3 years old.

They also work great to keep you dry while you bathe your dog!

Patriotic Denim Rag Quilt

To celebrate the first day of summer I just finished my patriotic rag lap quilt... and just in time for the 90 degree weather we're having in Utah!   I made this with the 4th of July in mind, picturing it beneath my sweaty bottom as I watch the fireworks.  Or to catch the melted ice cream my boys will drip all over!

I used various red, white, and blue cotton fabric and denim;  some recycled from my husband's old jeans, and some new.  I used 7" squares and sewed a red X through each "sandwich" of denim, white flannel, and 100% cotton top.  I found these sandwiches to be rather thick and heavy.  Next time I will omit the flannel if it's a denim rag quilt.  I used a 1/2" seam allowance to give enough room for the fraying.  LOVE it when it comes out all frayed from the dryer!  My dryer lint tray was mighty full of fluff.  I cleared it every 10 minutes.

I find it much easier to cut the denim when it comes off the bolt from the fabric store rather than try to get random pieces from different pants.  But I do like the color variation and rugged look of various used denim jeans.  The front is made from denim off the fabric bolt and the back is mostly recycled jeans.

True to the red, white, and blue pattern on the front but completely random-placed denim on back.  (I didn't even look at the back as I pieced the front.)  I like to add a block with a pocket to give it character.  Plus it makes a nice place to store candy wrappers or a boogey kleenex.  :)

Happy Independence Day!

Christmas Crafts

I made this whimsical Christmas rag throw for my mom for her birthday. Fabric from JoAnn's and quilt pattern found here: http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpatternsprojects/ss/rag_quilt.htm

I made this for an exchange. So cute that I just might have to make another. I found this pattern for this adorable Santa table runner/wall hanging at the Fabric Center.

"I Spy" Rag Quilt

I made this "I Spy" rag quilt for my little boy for his 2nd birthday. He loves looking for the different pictures. It's been a fun activity quilt to play with together.

Denim Rag Quilt

My first denim rag quilt. I made this for my brother and his wife for their wedding. The top is made from used jeans I collected from family and the local thrift store. The back is flannel. I gave a 1/2" seam allowance to allow enough fringe. I stitched twice around the border for extra durability. It was fun to see the fringe magic happen after the washing and drying process.
